The Anti Aging Secrets of the Goji Berry

Superfoods are becoming more and more popular these days. Goji berries are a beautiful example of superfoods with special powers. The goji berry is an amazing anti aging wonder. Used in traditional Chinese medicine recipes, the goji berry is famous for its anti aging benefits. The high levels of antioxidants and wide variety of important vitamins and minerals, make the goji berry an excellent addition to your diet. Let’s look deeper into these special anti aging powers!

Goji berries look like dried cranberries or orange raisins. You can find them in health stores and organic supermarkets (even more and more regular supermarkets sell them these days). You can find goji berries in yummy chocolate bars, juices or other tasty products, but you’ll mostly find them in dried form. The berries have a slightly sweet and somewhat sour flavor and are easy to enjoy in smoothies or salads. Before using them, soak the berries in a little water or apple juice to soften them. Use them in stead of raisins in a recipe or use them as a great topping for desserts. If soaking them sounds like to much effort, you can also use goji berry powder which can be stirred directly into hot water as a tea or into your anti aging juice.

Goji berries (or wolfberries) can be found in China, Mongolia and Tibet, they are family of the Solanaceae family of plants, also known as the nightshade veggies. The goji berry’s relatives include tomato’s, potatoes and peppers. Goji berries have a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine. A Chinese man named Li Qing Yuen is said to have lived to be 252 years old due to the daily consumption of goji berries. If this is a true story nobody knows, but it sure has made the goji berry a legendary anti aging fruit!

The goji berry is the most nutritious food in the world. You wouldn’t suspect those superpowers based on its tiny shrunken raisin like appearance, but the level of antioxidants in a goji berry is higher than in any other fruit or vegetable available. Antioxidants are substances that help prevent or delay some types of cell damage. Free radicals are responsible for cell damage and therefore responsible for the aging process of our body and lots of scary diseases. Sunlight, smoking or alcohol are some examples of free radicals formed from environmental factors. Antioxidants defend your body cells against these free radicals. An anti aging diet can help you look younger and stay fit.

Other then its antioxidants, a goji berry is also rich of vitamins. The level of vitamin C in a handful of goji berries is comparable to a lot of citrus fruits or strawberries. They also have mega doses of vitamin A, B1, B2, B6 and vitamin E and useful minerals which all contribute to the anti aging qualities of the goji berry. Make the tasty goji berry a daily addition to your healthy diet, to benefit of its anti aging powers. The amount of delicious goji berry recipes is endless, so enjoy and experience and look fabulously youthful while doing so! Are you interested in Anti Aging Products?
